~ Inara Serra "The Companion" ~

Inara Serra, the beautiful and graceful "Companion", as portrayed by the stunningly gorgeous Morena Baccarin. The art style for this card is an homage to the poster art of Alphonse Mucha of the 'Belle Epoch'. The stylistic approach in this card is futuristic, retro 1900s Art Nouveau. But as fans of Firefly well know, part of the delight of the show is a world where so many eras and cultures have mingled and co-exist with each other. Inara is portrayed as a serene beauty, shimmering like a jewel... an exquisite and dazzling work of art. But still retaining her warmth and humor, yet still somehow unreachable. There is much of Inara that is hidden, and a part of her seems to be thinking of another place... And for anyone who wishes to know, the Chinese characters read, "Beautiful, Expensive, Love". Yes indeed...

~ River Tam "Fugitive Genius" ~

River Tam, the "Fugitive Genius" ~ A gifted, beautiful, and sensitive young girl, River was subjected to unspeakable psychological and physical experiments at the hands of a secret division of the Alliance. Rescued at great risk and cost by her devoted brother Simon, she is haunted by the torments she endured. River's art gallery portrait evokes the pain and violation she suffered. Yet within the swirl of emotions and raw exposure she now feels to everything around her... she shows that at her core, she remains a highly intuitive, enigmatic, and powerful young woman... with still more mysteries yet to be discovered. Summer Glau portrays River Tam with a touching sensitivity that enters the realm of the preternatural. Truly a magical pairing of artist and role.

~ Alternate Serenity DVD Cover Designs ~

If the official cover design for the Serenity DVD doesn't float your boat, then swap it out! Available now is a downloadable, print quality, image file for an original design by yours truly, 11th Hour. The front cover of this design is based on an early mock-up for the cover of the Serenity Role Playing Game... now finding an afterlife as a "rebel" Serenity DVD cover.

FILE INFO: The dpi is 300, and the file size is approximately 6 MB in jpeg format. The design has also been carefully measured to conform exactly to the size of the official cover. All images should wrap around the DVD case correctly. Just click on the link below the image to load the high resolution jpeg file in a new browser window, then right click the image to download to your computer. REMEMBER! The design of the first official Serenity ("no frills") DVD cover, well, it spawned numerous highly entertaining exchanges on various Firefly/Serenity message boards. Oh for the love of llamas, and that duck (not to mention the lasers, the Zombie horde, and who the heck is that Goth chick anyway?). Ah yes, a bemused comment that started on Whedonesque grew into the wacky llama legend with the fans. Then another zany exchange on a different board spurred me to create this "Llamafied" version of the alt Serenity DVD cover.

So, in response to several requests, and testament that we flans know how to take a joke and run with it, here be a hi-res file for the cover featuring those delightful, delovely, three stomached, fluffy, soulful critters (with plenty of other llamafication revisions sprinkled throughout). Have fun...
